How To Conquer Bitterness

Bitterness is an obsession with an offense. Bitterness often enters through a family wound, hurt, a perceived injustice, a relationship disappointment, an offense or a loss. However, if you allow bitterness to remain, it will eventually destroy your life and your relationship with God.

That is why the Word teaches us to “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you,”(Ephesians 4:31-32).

Eliminate any words of bitterness in every conversation. Do not remind others of your experience, unless it is to teach and encourage them to rise above their own hurts. Satan knows that if he can get you offended and deceive you into harboring anger and bitterness that he can usually cause you to fall spiritually. “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled,” (Hebrews 12:15).
